Need somewhere cute to put notes, photos, hairclips, jewelry and more? Girls Night Out is where you want to be. We’ll be making an adorable message/accessories frame. To make sure it will match your space perfectly students are incharge of bringing their own fabric. Frame, hooks, buttons, brads, needles, thread, felt, brushes, paints & instructions are included in class. Paint colors available are: black, cream, white & brown. Hope to see you there.

6 x 24″ acrylic ruler in addition an optional 6 x 12″ acrylic ruler is handy

1 x 6″ acrylic ruler

100% Cotton Thread (I use natural or cream color)

Pins (I use the long ones)

Pin Cushion

Pencil

Tape measure (120″ long)

12 1/2 acrylic bias square like Omni, Ofla or Creative Grids

Note: Put your name on all of your equipment

Fabric:

Lousie used a fat quarter bundle of 24 fabrics. She was a little shy on a couple of fabrics, so she pieced some small leftover fabric to squeeze into two blocks. Otherwise, 1/2 yard of each of 11 different fabric that coordinates with the above fabrics.

3/4 yard of fabric for binding

5 1/2 yards of fabric for backing

July 28 – Gettin’ Around to it

Project: Quilt

Supply List:
Getting Around To It kit and pieces cut and pressed as directed.
Sewing machine – in good working order
2 filled bobbins of matching thread
Extra needles
Pins
Scissors
Ruler
Cutting Mat and Rotary cutter
Iron and Ironing board will be provided

For optimum success in the three hour block:
Have all pieces cut and pressed before class!
1. The 36 – 8 1/2″ squares cut from the 2 yd piece and the circles(pre cut if kit was purchased)
2. Press all squares into quarters and press all 6″ circles into quarters as well, as described in pattern.
3. Pinning the circles to the squares will speed up you process during class time.
4. Cutting the 3″ circle into quarters can also be done in advance if desired, but take caution to cut them evenly and make sure the pieces stay together.

Supply List: pencil, eraser, ruler, scissors, paper piercer, paper trimmer, brayer, bone folder, crop-a-dial or 1/4″ hole punch, UHU glue stick, wet glue such as PVA or Tacky, double sided tape, favorite brown ink and applicator, bristle paint brush, foam brush, sewing needle with ivory thread, sewing machine with ivory thread. (If renting a machine from the store, please bring ivory thread and a bobbin.)

July 31 – Ragtime

Supply List:

*For front…enough fabric for 63 squares…8 x 8″ (1/4 yd yeilds 5 squares…fat quarter yeilds 4 squares)

*For back 3 yd (63 squares… 8 x 8″)

*7/8 yd Warm N’ Natural or enough batting for 63 squares… 6 x 6″

*large spool of matching thread

*sewing machine (the store has a few to rent…first come, first served. If needed, reserve one when you sign up for class!)

*pins, scissors

*rotary cutter, straight edge ruler and cutting mat

Notes:

If you are comfortable cutting the squares ahead of time, go for it! Otherwise, we will cut them together in class. This is a very easy quilt, once you learn the basic concept.

Although the sample was made using silky fabric on the back, it is not recommended…unless you are very experienced or very patient! Cotton and cotton blends are recommended for front and back.

There is a Sewing Late Nighter scheduled for that same evening…you could sign up to stay for that class as well, and you might actually get all your sewing done. All you would need to do at home is clip and wash! Think about it…could be fun!

Melange Gypsie Journal – Creative Genius Workshop

If you’re in town early for Creative Escape, you will want to schedule this class at Scrapbooks, Etc. Carol Wingert, two time Creative Escape instructor, will be teaching a fabulous travel journal called the “Melange Gypsie Journal”…a collection or medley of stuff all artfully compiled into one funky made from scratch book.
It can be used as a travel journal…or just for your walk in life.
This isn’t a junque journal with stitched interior pages. Instead, it meaders, it flips, it shadowboxes…a brand new combo for Carol to teach.
The class is August 25th from 10:30 to 2:00. Seating is limited and you won’t want to miss out on this creative opportunity…after all, it’s your creative escape!

What should you have in your Scrapbook Tool Kit?

This information is to assist you in being best prepared for taking one of our wonderful Scrapbooking,Card Making and/or Paper Crafting Classes! We recommend that you have the following supplies in your Basic Scrapbook Tool Kit: 12 x 12 paper trimmer, paper piercer, ruler, pencil, black pen for journaling, scissors, bone folder, corner rounder and hole punch (or crop-a-dile).

Be prepared by including a wardrobe of adhesives to help you tackle any job: a tape runner, liquid adhesive, glue dots, pop dots, glue stick (and brayer) and tacky tape.

For intermediate to advanced classes, you may want to add the following tools: stapler, ink pads (brown and black), edge distressor, craft knife and self-healing mat, sanding tools (or sandpaper), paint brushes and baby wipes.

What should be in your Basic Sewing Kit?
